Architectural design for a 2- storey detached house with basement, attic and an infinity pool. The concept is to have the primary volume (private spaces) on the second storey, and supporting structures (public spaces) on the the first storey. On the first storey, spaces are kept open to retain an open and smooth flow within public spaces i.e. living room, dining hall, dry kitchen. We have organized the open spaces and paths of travel based on the client's preference. The dining hall has glass doors opening up to the infinity pool and the pool is wrapped around by wooden deck, allowing a subtle transition between interior and exterior. The second storey, which is the primary volume, is divided into 2 boxes. The "floating" volumes was planned and positioned based on the analytical study of the site and sun. We proposed concrete as the material to tie the two volumes. Occupants going up the staircase will be met by a floor to ceiling window that provides natural light to the family room.
