Rakudo, Japan

Our vision was to create a recognisable, yet inviting location that simultaneously instills the essence of Singapore's rich Peranakan heritage and have the familiarity of a classic Japanese restaurant. A counter bar is tucked at the end of the corridor, creating a warm, intimate space; similar to classic Japanese eateries. It opens up to a spacious, bright dining area on the right, where colourful Peranakan inspired fabric panels are used to line the walls and complement the marble-top tables. Cement screed finished walls, dark coloured upholstery and traditional wooden chairs are used to balance out the colourful fabrics and Peranakan display pieces.
